Hello, i also have an aprilia 350 withe the rotax engine, it has an oil cooler, and an start motor I wonder if i could mount an 500 or even an 560 engine
is that even internaly the same engine (gearbox, oil pump,....)

there are differences between 350 and 560 for example.

For example there was a version with 6 gears and one with 5 gears in the 350. I know from 560 only a gearbix with 5 gears.

here is an overview of Aprilia

thanks, rotax 560,
but might you know if the engine cases are externaly the same, so would they fit my KTM 500 GS frame nr.800610121 engine nr 164164,
and if i work the fitting (sorry for my englisch) of the cilinder bigger, can i make an 560 of it, would the cranckshaft be strong enough ? would anyone have done that ?
the aprilia has an oil cooler and electrick start motor; but much less powerfull engine

the changes to the younger aprilia, are they improvements, or are the KTM internals stronger, heavier
of corse the cilinder and piston and head wil be smaler since the ktm is an 500
so would ii improve the KTM by installing an aprilia engine you think ?

not really, it depends which roller bearings are assembled.

One of the big problems with the KTM engines was the roller bearing at the transmission output.
In the original version there was a ball-bearing assembled, later they change to a cylindrical roller bearing.

So if this is done in the Aprilia engine, this would be an improvement.

But for the usage of the Aprilia engine you have to change the crankshaft, so in this case you can change the roller bearings in the KTM engine and you have the same improvement.

i have done (only) two strokes trials machines, and i always opt for new bearings and seals if i open an engine, i will certainly check if it's an roller or ball bearing
the crackshaft is that change is that for the stroke or for the rigidity ?
I could also opt for an bigger bore in combination with the 350 stroke, but will it be ok with the internal engine balance ?

piston stroke

if the weight of the piston is the same, it should work.
But witch cylinder head do you use then.
Also a complete setup for the carburetor is needed.
.........

If you open the engine and you want not only use the bike for a few kilometers, replace all ball bearings with roller bearings. Then you will have for a long time no problems with the bearings.

i will certainly keep you informed of my progress, 6 gears, oil cooler and start motor are the pro's
the engine capacity if and the state of tune (i don't change thos two ) are the negatives
